Like you Rod, I too am newly converted to this chironomid madness and have found it to be less boring than I thought it would be, because you are usually fighting fish, and big ones at that. We are so lucky to have an expert like Don Jarman in the club who is so giving with his knowledge making it easy for the rest of us to become successful at this style of fishing and beat most of the learning curve. I started out with just a couple boxes of the basic patterns, but have now had a major hatch occur and have a swarm of them and am having trouble fitting all my fly boxes into the pouches of my pontoon boat. I now have so many that actually seeing what colour the body is out on the water, I have to use a magnifying glass which is now always in the pocket of my fly vest. My favorite pattern has become the blue dun bodied chromie with either back or white bead.
