Hi Nicklaus
September is a prime time for fishing the Stamp for Chinook, coho and summer run steelhead.
The river usually opens for retention of Chinook and coho on August 25. Check the regs for specifics of which portions of the river are closed to angling.
A Lot of anglers focus their efforts on the lower river (the Somass River ) below the confluence of the Sproat and Stamp. A popular access point is Somass Park. There is good fly swinging water here, but it is a popular spot so expect it to be crowded, especially in early mornings. You need to wade out to an island and the fishing is good casting towards the opposite side of river. Fresh fish typically show up here on an incoming tide and for 2-4 hours after the high tide.
A good access point on the Stamp River is at the Gun Club which is accessible off of Rage Road. There is a hiking trail that runs upriver of the parking area for about 1-2 kilometres.
There is also good fishing above Stamp Falls for coho and summer run steelhead. Access points include Stamp Falls provincial park and an acesss off of Barker Road ( the road is in rough shape so not a good spot if you do not have a truck or AWD vehicle.
Tight lines.
Mike
