Saturday April 23 rd we will be having a fish out at Maple Lake, just off the connector from Courtenay to Cumberland. If you are travelling on the Comox Valley Parkway ( connector) from Courtenay to Cumberland, turn right on to Minto rd ( just past the gravel pit) follow the road past the cemetery for about a hundred yards. Turn right go through the tunnel travel anther hundred yards or so and there is an open parking area. Park along the edges so the gravel trucks can have access to the pit. Also stay aware of possible gravel trucks. The road access to the lake is to the left through the trees. You can drive in to launch watercraft but will have to park back in the parking lot. You can get directions and a map if you google Maple Lake Cumberland Bc. We will be meeting at the lake for 9am. The lake access isn’t trailer friendly, ideally a pontoon boat, V boat or belly boat is easiest. A smaller, light tin boat is possible with a helper. My preferred gear for this lake is 4 or 5 weight rods, a type 3 or type 5 sinking lines and a floating line for fishing dry flies. Small black, green and brown leaches and greedy buggers fish well under the sinking lines. I have done very well on dry flies size 14, Adam’s errisitable, or any natural tans and brown size 14 dry flies. This coming Sunday 10 am April 10th at the upper pavilion at Comox Marina Park we will be holding a “Learning Corner” to help anybody interested in learning or needs help withRod and line set ups for the fish out. 3 club members are also making their V boats and fins available for members that don’t yet have watercraft. Hopefully we will see a good number of club members join in the fun. This little lake can be very fun and productive as it is stocked twice a year with nice Rainbow’s. If you are interested in borrowing 1 of the Loaner V boats and fins, please contact Cam at 250-897-4160. Hope to see you there Cam

Suggest you bring the setup you think will work and get the scoop as to what will work and what won’t. For the future the intent is to have a similar session in advance of a fishout to help individuals prepare so that they can enjoy the experience instead of fiddeling with a poor or unworkable setup.
See you there! That is: Sunday, April 10 @ 10:00am @ the upper pavilion @ Comox Marina Park!
