CVFC Volunteers tasked as Stewards for 22 Beach Access Points.

Volunteer members of the Comox Valley Flyfishing Club and Comox Valley Regional District are working together to ensure 22 shore/beach access points are maintained and monitored monthly. Work involves checking culverts and ditches remain open, report any damage to trails, or, report any hazards and complete minor maintenance to these public access points.

Michael Nihls, Volunteer Coordinator and club liaison with the CVRD, invited volunteer team members for a tour of the 22 beach access points. Six club members were available to form a work party and trimmed vegetation growth on both sides of the trails. Collected from the trails were small amounts of litter and some recyclables. All debris, litter and blackberry clippings that were pruned were collected and removed for home disposal.

The 21 beach accesses have been maintained since Program inception in 2015 and one (1) additional access (Driftwood Road in the Saratoga Beach Area was added when the agreement was renewed in March of 2019). The Comox Valley Flyfishing Club will continue to oversee the 22 shore access points until December 2020.

Further information is available from club member Mike Nihls. His contact details are noted on the Member’s List – posted on the club website.
