The Comox Valley FlyFishers members have strong ties with conservation efforts in the valley.
From the beginnings of the club we have been linked with the Oyster River Enhancement Society (ORES) and in fact all club members are also paid up members of ORES. A good number of club members are heavily involved in the operation of the ORES hatchery.
Other societies we support are Roy Creek Salmon Enhancement and Little River Enhancement.
CVFFC has been involved with the efforts to have Maple Lake and the surrounding wetlands preserved as a Comox Valley nature park.
The club also has a dedicated group of volunteers that look after a series of beach access trails from the Oyster river to Union Bay. We have been involved with getting and maintaining proper launch access to Spider Lake. In the past we got involved with the Provincial Department of Fisheries with the fertilizing and monitoring of Martha and Reginald lakes.
The club members are very highly motivated to assist in any number of activities that involve protection and enhancement of natural ecosystems.
Here are some pictures from an outing on the Oyster last fall.
