When Ed calls for a fishout everyone steps up and takes notice. 14 or so club members answered the call, as did the weatherman with a sunny warm day with no wind, and so did the fish gods, greeting us with bitey fish.
Those who trolled various nymphs and leeches had plenty of willing takers as did those of us that fished chironomids.
There were very few chronies hatching so chromies were off the menu. We found fish in 30 ft of water cruising about 2 ft off the bottom. We anchored up and sent down the deep lines. Dark bodied chironomids with a red rib sized 18 were the ticket. Colour of the head didn’t seem to matter but size was critical.
We landed several very nice holdover fish with Rob Leblond landing one around 3 1/2 lbs. I had to zoom past Rod to take a pic of it as he was busy fighting a fish. Rod donated one fish to his feathered friend at one point. If you enlarge the photo you will see that the eagle has the fish in one set of talons and Rob’s head in the other set.
Great day on the water folks. Thanks for making the effort to attend. Fishing is not always this good, but it was today!
We missed you being with us today Keith. Rest well our friend!

Great pics of a great day!
That’s one great eagle pic, Dean…. National Geographic worthy for sure.
Cheers!
